Simi Adekolu is the founder of Simorah Advisory - a governance, finance and institutional strategy firm serving nonprofits, entrepreneurs and small businesses across Canada and globally.
Simi brings a rare depth of perspective to advisory work that comes from having lived inside the institutions she now helps organisations emulate. Her career spans financial risk consulting at KPMG Nigeria, policy roles at the Canada Border Services Agency and the Public Health Agency of Canada, and her current position as a Senior Economist/Advisor in Financial Stability and Capital Markets at Finance Canada - one of Canada's most strategically significant federal departments.
Since 2018, Simi has channelled that expertise into advisory work - helping nonprofits build governance frameworks, walking entrepreneurs through the process of putting real structure behind their ideas, and supporting small businesses that had outgrown informal systems. Simorah Advisory formally structures that seven-year body of advisory work, bringing institutional-grade rigour to the organisations that need it most.
Simi's dual perspective - built across consulting in Nigeria and federal policy in Canada - gives Simorah a distinctive analytical lens. She understands governance challenges not just from frameworks and theory, but from having navigated the systems herself, from the inside.
She works directly with boards, executive directors, entrepreneurs and business owners who are ready to build organisations that are not just functional - but exceptional. Organisations built to last, built to grow and built to fulfil the purpose they were created for.
The Simorah Story
The name Simorah reflects the firm's founding conviction - Simi, the Yoruba word for rest and breath, combined with Or, the Hebrew word for divine light from Genesis 1:3.
